Glenn Hoddle has sent a message to Tammy Abraham after his penalty miss saw Chelsea lose the Super Cup against Liverpool on Wednesday.
Chelsea had taken the lead in the first half through Olivier Giroud before Sadio Mane levelled to bring about extra-time.
Mane hit his second of the game in extra time but Abraham was brought down in the box by Adrian with Jorginho taking the game to a penalty shoot-out.
Abraham took the fifth spot kick but his shot was saved by Adrian to win the Super Cup for Liverpool.
Speaking on BT Sport, Hoddle explained what the former Aston Villa loan striker needs to pick himself him up from the disappointment.
He said: "That would have hurt him but it’s part of his experience as a player.
"The reaction of his teammates and his manager were spot on. There’s one player there who’s elated (Adrian) and another who feels dreadful.
"He’s a young man and when he came on I thought he did well. I think he’s just got to adapt to the Premier League.
"He’s been playing in the Championship and I just think a couple of goals under his belt and we’ll see the very best of him. He’s got to wipe that out of his mind. If that stays on his mind, then there’s a problem.
"Hopefully, by the time the weekend comes - or the next time he plays for Chelsea - that’ll be completely out of his mind and he can get his first goal of the season."
