How Strictly's Adam Peaty met artist girlfriend and her hospital apology

Team GB Olympian Adam Peaty is taking on yet another huge challenge this year - on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 26-year-old swimmer, who won two gold medals and won silver at Tokyo 2020, has admitted he thinks his prowess in the water might actually hinder his dance moves.

"I’m used to being in the water, I’m not used to being on land and against gravity," he explained.

"I guess if you’re dancing you might as well rate yourself," he added.

"I know my hips are hopefully going to be quite fluid."

Last September, Adam welcomed his first child, a son, with girlfriend Eirianedd Munro, who he met at Loughborough university when she was studying fine art.

Eirianedd now works as an artist with an Instagram page dedicated to her work, and she specialises in portraits.

She recently opened up on the tough experience she had in hospital while giving birth to their baby, George-Anderson Adetola Peaty.

She revealed in a TikTok video that the ordeal of going through emergency labour was drastically worsened by the over-enthusiastic behaviour of hospital employees at Leicester General.

She said: "The paramedic is interviewing him the whole time [and] they’re calling him Lord Adam Peaty.

"And when we arrive the midwife is obsessed with him, she comes in after a lunch break and said, 'I spent my whole lunch break Googling you.'

"What the f**k?

"Then, 20 hours into my labour and the whole room is just asking him, ‘What is it like being an Olympian? It must be so hard.’

"The day ended up being all about him. I love him, but come on."

Leicester General apologised for the actions of their staff, saying: "We’re sorry if some of our team were a little starstruck."

When Adam headed off for the Olympics this summer, he posted a sweet photo of him holding George-Anderson.

"Leaving for the Olympics today! Extremely grateful and privileged to have such a great team, family, friends and sponsors who make all of this possible," he gushed.

"The last 18 months have been the most challenging I have ever been through with having my first child, moving house and then all the Covid s***t that hit us too, but we always found a way and will continue to pioneer even in the face of adversity.

"We’ll head to Yokohama for a holding/staging camp and then to Tokyo a few days before to compete. Confident, strong and most importantly, free. Let’s goooo (also it’s coming home)."

Eirianedd was not allowed to attend due to Covid travel restrictions, but she posted a supportive message to him on Instagram.

"I am so so SO PROUD of you," she penned.

"I wish I could be there to support and celebrate these monumental life moments with my boo, I just have to hope he feels all the love we're sending from the other side of the world.

"We'll be watching from the comfort of our sofa at 3am in the morning - or rather the edge of the sofa!"
