How Storm Dennis has affected Sunderland's plans at Oxford this weekend

Following recent weather warnings, Sunderland's players will have to travel down to Oxford early Friday morning for their upcoming match on Saturday.

The team had been planning on training in Wearside in the morning before setting off for Oxfordshire, but manager Phil Parkinson has made the decision to travel earlier due to the weather warnings.

Now the plan is for the team to train in Oxford once they arrive on Friday afternoon.

According to the Met Office, weather in Oxford isn't looking great, with a 90 per cent chance of rain from 12pm till 9pm and wind gusts of up to 48mph.

At the moment everything is still going ahead for Saturday's game, with Oxford United still tweeting about how Saturday 'can't come soon enough'.

Storm Dennis could bring some very heavy rain to the match, and would cause delays or cancellations to train and bus services, which means fans travelling down should be prepared for potentially challenges.

It is advised for travellers to check train or coach companies before they leave to make sure, they can get there in one piece.

Homes and businesses could also end up being flooded, as well as roads may be cut off by flood water.

If you are driving to the match and a road is flooded it is advised that you never drive through flood water, and instead find a safer alternative route.
