How Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian brilliantly trolled Maria Sharapova

Throughout her career, Serena Williams has absolutely dominated Maria Sharapova in head-to-head matchups. She was 19-2 heading into Monday’s match at the U.S. Open, and it was more of the same … Williams easily defeated Sharapova in straight sets.

But Serena wasn’t the only one to leave the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center with a win over Sharapova on Monday. Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, was a winner in his own right.

Fans quickly took notice to the shirt that Ohanian was wearing during the match — a “D.A.R.E. Keeping kids off drugs” shirt. It was subtle shade at Sharapova, which was just the perfect amount of petty.

Sharapova, of course, was hit with a two-year ban in 2016 for doping. The failed drug test came the day Sharapova lost to Williams at the Australian Open.

When you take that failed test into account along with Sharapova considering Serena a “rival” in her autobiography, you can’t blame Ohanian for taking his own shot at Sharapova. Serena holds a 20-2 record against Sharapova. That isn’t a rivalry.
