How Scott McTominay predicted his Manchester United goal vs Arsenal

Scott McTominay has revealed how he thought he was going to score for Manchester United prior to doing so against Arsenal on Monday night.

Scotland international McTominay netted his first senior goal at Old Trafford with a thunderous effort from the edge of the box to give United the lead against Arsenal.

The visitors equalised after the break through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to ensure they shared the spoils as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side maintained their turbulent run of form.

McTominay's only two previous strikes for United came in the Premier League last season and now the 22-year-old has revealed how he knew a third was on its way earlier this week.

Speaking after his wonder strike McTominay referred back to his first senior strike against Wolves and how he had a similar confidence about finding the net on Monday night.

"I had a funny feeling I was going to score when I was in the hotel today," McTominay told MUTV.

"I had the same (feeling) at Wolves as well, so it must be the sleeping that I did this afternoon!

"Obviously it is an amazing feeling to get that first goal at Old Trafford. I've had a couple in the Reserves, and it is always a nice feeling in front of 76,000 people.

"The crowd were absolutely amazing tonight and it is a real credit to play in front of them."
