How Royal Family Christmas will mix 30 people from multiple homes

The Royal Family will have to comply with the same tier restriction rules as everyone else when they come into force on Wednesday, and will also be able to take advantage of relaxed rules over Christmas.

But while Christmas Day may mean a slimmed-down gathering for the Royal Family, Boxing Day could see the whole Firm together for celebration.

The Christmas rules this year mean no more than three households are allowed to meet up, and this will be the case when the Queen goes to Sandringham for her traditional Christmas.

It is believed Prince Edward and his family will be invited, reports The Mirror.

A source told the Daily Mail: "Prince Edward and his family will be one of the two in her bubble."

It is not yet known who will be the third household.

But while Christmas Day will be quiet, Boxing Day could see 30 members of the Royal Family gather.

The source added: "The royal family's traditional Boxing Day shoot could still take place, enabling them to see members of the family unable to join them on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day."

Shoots can legally take place as they are classified as organised outdoor sports, so up to 30 royals could be in attendance.

It's claimed that this would work well for Prince Charles and Camilla, who could also spend Christmas with her two children and five grandchildren and wouldn't be able to do this if she was in the Queen's bubble.

The same to applies to Prince William and Kate, who spend time with her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, and her siblings, Pippa and James.
