How Richarlison ended up playing with Everton while turning out for Brazil

Richarlison found himself playing with Everton while turning out for Brazil!

Snapped up by Marco Silva from his former club Watford for a £35million fee potentially rising to £50million, the 21-year-old has established himself as a big fans' favourite at Goodison Park this season.

Despite initial criticism over his price tag from pundit Paul Merson, who won two league titles, an FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup-Winners' Cup with Arsenal, Richarlison has netted 13 goals for the Blues so far this term, a significant improvement on his haul from his first season in England (five for the Hornets in 2017/18).

He played for his country for the first time less than a month after his competitive Everton debut and has now turned out seven times for Tite's side, scoring three times.

On his latest outing, a 1-1 draw with Panama at Porto's Estadio do Dragao on Saturday night, having started up front alongside Merseyside rival Roberto Firmino of Liverpool, Richarlison spent the final half an hour playing with Everton after the Reds man made way in a double substitution that also saw Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus introduced to the action.

Richarlison, Everton and company will now be heading to Prague for a friendly against the Czech Republic – beaten 5-0 on Friday by an England side containing Blues pair Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane – at the Sinobo Stadium.
