How Rangers could line up against Hearts as Leon Balogun 'recovery' provides welcome relief

Rangers have been dealt some good injury fortune for once as centre-back Leon Balogun will reportedly be OK to face Hearts this weekend.

The centre-back went down injured while on international duty with Nigeria at the weekend.

Gers fans had hearts in mouths at the sight of the defender pulling up against Central African Republic to be replaced by Kenneth Omeruo.

But according to The Athletic he's not expected to miss the massive top of the table clash against Robbie Neilson's side - who remain in second just one point behind the champions - on Saturday.

That means the champions should pair Balogun with Connor Goldson in the heart of defence.

It will be decision time in goal but after a week of downtime veteran Allan McGregor could be entrusted between the sticks while Borna Barisic should start at left-back.

Steven Gerrard will need to decide if he continues with Nathan Patterson at right-back but he could bring back Rangers captain James Tavernier for this one.

Steven Davis may be rested as Northern Ireland lean heavily on the 36-year-old during the international break.

And that could mean the improving John Lundstram keeps his place in midfield alongside Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo.

Alfredo Morelos should lead the line but Gerrard must decide which pairing will support him out of wide options Scott Wright, Ianis Hagi, Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala.
