How public transport will operate in Nottingham under national lockdown

Nottingham City Transport has provided an update on how its services will run under a national lockdown.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a lockdown for the UK which will come into effect at midnight on Thursday, October 5.

It means only schools, universities and essential shops will remain open, with other businesses forced to close and people told to stay in their homes unless they have a specific reason to leave.

The lockdown will remain in place until December 2.

The news came just one day after Nottinghamshire was placed under tier 3 restrictions by the government.

Nottingham City Transport has told its customers its services will continue to operate its services as normal, but will keep the situation constantly under review.

A spokesperson for Nottingham City Transport said: "Following the briefing given by the Prime Minister on Saturday, 31st October 2020, Nottingham City Transport will continue to operate its advertised services and timetables.

"Our Travel Centre and Call Centre will also continue to open as usual, with our call centre returning to 8am – 6pm on weekdays from Monday 2nd November.

"We will keep this situation under review and respond to any further guidance or information received from the government.

"Customers should continue to follow all aspects of the Safer Travel Guidance when using our services, which are detailed in full on our website.

"Thank you to all of our employees and customers for their continued support and understanding."

East Midlands Railway and Nottingham Express Transmit (NET) haven't announced any changes to their scheduled services - both have been approached for comment.
