How PSG staged late fightback to beat Tottenham in Super Cup final

  • Tottenham lost the Super Cup final to Paris Saint-Germain after surrendering a two-goal lead and then losing a penalty shootout.
  • Spurs initially led 2-0 with goals from Micky van de Ven and newly appointed captain Cristian Romero, both from set-pieces.
  • Paris Saint-Germain mounted a late comeback, with Kang-in Lee scoring with five minutes remaining and substitute Goncalo Ramos heading in an equaliser in stoppage time.
  • In the penalty shootout, Tottenham gained an early advantage when Vitinha missed for PSG, and Rodrigo Bentancur scored to make it 2-0 in the shootout.
  • However, Micky van de Ven and Mathys Tel failed to convert their penalties, allowing Nuno Mendes to score the winning spot-kick for PSG, who triumphed 4-3.
