How Premier League are preparing for Liverpool winning title ahead of Man City

Manchester City are in pole position to retain their Premier League crown as the title race goes down to the final day.

City's dramatic victory over Leicester on Monday night means Pep Guardiola's men will be champions again if they beat Brighton on Sunday.

Liverpool will be praying for a slip-up while they must beat Wolves to keep the pressure on City.

It is only the eighth time in Premier League history the title race has gone down to the final day and the first since 2014, when City pipped Liverpool.

There wasn't too much drama on that occasion as City eased past West Ham at the Etihad, a far cry from their win over QPR two years earlier.

Liverpool vs Wolves ref appointment confirmed plus Brighton vs Man City

The Premier League are preparing for any eventuality on the final day, despite the title seemingly heading for the Amex Stadium.

That means there will be two trophies and sets of winners medals on standby - with one heading for Brighton and the other for Anfield.

There are currently two trophies in existence, with one remaining with the champions and the other being used at events and TV studios during the season.

The Sun reports full signage and stages will be delivered to both grounds, with full rehearsals taking place on Saturday to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola lead Premier League manager of the season nominees

Liverpool must defy history to overhaul City and win their first title.

On all the previous seven occasions the title was won on the final day, the side going into the last match top of the table has held on and finished the season there.
