'How positive will Marco Silva's Everton be?'- Pundits predict Everton vs Crystal Palace

Everton kick off their 2019/20 Premier League campaign away to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

It's been a busy summer off the pitch for the Goodison Park club, with Blues unveiling their new stadium plans for Bramley-Moore Dock just two weeks ago.

And Blues boss Marco Silva has also been active in this summer's transfer market, securing the services of seven new players, with Andre Gomes, Jonas Lossl, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Moise Kean, Djibril Sidibe and Alex Iwobi all signing on the dotted line.

But despite the influx of new recruits, the Blues aren't fancied to claim an opening day victory at Selhurst Park, with a selection of former stars predicting the Blues will fail to claim all three points.

Mark Lawrenson - BBC

Everton were keen on signing Wilfried Zaha, and he seemed keen to go there too, but if he plays on Saturday, it will be for Crystal Palace.

The same goes for James McCarthy, who joined the Eagles from the Toffees this week. That was a smart bit of business, and so was bringing in Gary Cahill from Chelsea.

Goals and creativity are a problem for Palace, even when Zaha plays. It will also be interesting to see how Everton's new signings get on.

Prediction: 1-1

Charlie Nicholas - Sky Sports

I think Zaha wanted the Arsenal move, but Crystal Palace have over-valued him. I don't think Zaha is interested in leaving London despite the transfer request. I have high hopes for Everton, but it needs time for the team to gel.

They still have problems at the back and Zaha will be the match-winner against Everton here, the headlines are already written. Which style will Everton play?

How positive will Marco Silva's Everton be? It is hard to pick a starting XI and they have strengthened in the wrong areas for me. It will be Zaha's day.

Prediction: 2-1

Michael Owen - BetVictor

Everton have struggled for goals in pre-season and it will be interesting to see if Marco Silva starts his Italian international striker Moise Kean at Selhurst Park or whether he feels the teenager bought from Juventus at the weekend will need time to adjust to life in the Premier League.

The Eagles lost 4-0 at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday and Roy Hodgson was struggling for numbers against the Bundesliga outfit. Palace are likely to have Wilfried Zaha available although their talisman – a transfer target for Everton earlier in the window – only returned to training from African Cup of Nations duty on Monday.

Prediction: Under 2.5 goals
