How pop it fidget toys can help kids with their maths

If you've got a child of a certain age then you'll have no doubt come across the bubble popping fidget toys.

Known as pop its, poppets, or poppers, you basically just push the silicone dimples in and once you've completed one side you flip it over and start again.

It's as addictive as bubble wrap but it's an endless cycle as you can just keep going.

But it turns out your kids could actually get a lot more out of their pop its than you think.

Some parents have been using them to help children with their maths.

The Facebook post highlighting bubble popping maths games (Learning and Exploring Through Play / Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls)

A Facebook post from Learning and Exploring Through Play has gone viral after highlighting bubble pop maths games from the Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls website.

It shows how the rows can be used to help understand times tables.

The post has been shared hundreds of times, with many parents and teachers praising the idea.

"I've been doing this for a few months with my 1:1 tutoring students and it works well," said one. "I got two 10x10 ones so that the child could make the array and I could make it too to compare, especially when the arrays can be different like making 20."

"This is a super idea," said another. "This toy has been very popular nowadays. My daughter is crazy for this!! Will try it sure."

The Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls website has more ideas for using them here to help with addition, subtraction, place value and more.

Pop it toys can be bought in most high streets and ordered online from the likes of Amazon and eBay.
