How plush penthouse apartments at 19th Century cotton mill in Leigh will look

New images have been unveiled of the plush penthouse apartments being built inside a 19th Century mill building.

Each boast their own roof terrace with panoramic views.

The swanky flats are being built on the roof of a converted cotton mill on the edge of Leigh town centre.

Built on the north bank of the Bridgewater Canal in 1882, Mather Lane Mill stood derelict for 20 years after it shut.

A £13m development, known as Loom Wharf, is aimed at breathing life into the Grade II-listed building.

It is being converted into into 99 apartments offering huge, light-filled rooms.

The penthouse apartments come complete with a roof terrace boasting impressive views across the North West (MEN)

The building will also have a private cinema, private dining room for hire and a gym.

Work started in 2018 and much of it has already been completed.

The final stage involves converting the roof into eight penthouse apartments.

New images released this week show what they will look like.

Prices start at £215,950 for the penthouse apartments, which boast two or three bedrooms, dining areas, a family bathroom and an en-suite.

Each of the penthouses has its own private roof terrace, offering views across Manchester city centre, and even to the Peak District.

Another perk is that they also come with their own underground parking space.

The work is being carried out by Leigh-based JP McGuire Developments.

Most of the development is nearly complete and the first buyers are expected to move in from February.

Jonathan Twentyman, MD of JP McGuire Developments, said: “With Loom Wharf, we wanted to show people that they can have stylish, quality apartments, with more space and character than what’s on offer in big cities – but without the price tag.

"It was important for us to preserve as much of the heritage of this mill as possible, while making sure we designed and built homes that are comfortable, safe and kitted out with everything people need for modern living."
