How Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reacted to Alexandre Lacazette’s key role in Arsenal win vs Wolves

Former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sent a short message to Alexandre Lacazette after the Frenchman played a key role in victory over Wolves at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Lyon striker was on hand to fire in a shot that was palmed into his own net by goalkeeper Jose Sa in the closing stages of the Gunners’ clash with their rivals for a European place next season.

The goal completed an impressive late turnaround for Arsenal, with Nicolas Pepe having already cancelled out Hwang-Hee Chan’s opener in north London.

The winning goal triggered wild celebrations from fans and players alike, with Lacazette particularly taking the acclaim throughout the evening.

Following victory, Lacazette took to Instagram with a post accompanied by the caption: “We believed until the last second!

“So proud of my team, the atmosphere was unreal tonight!! Hows that for a celebration.”

He was sent a number of congratulatory messages after the victory, with one in particular coming from his former teammate Aubameyang - who only waved goodbye to Arsenal for a move to Barcelona in January.

The Gabonese’s message was only short yet effective as he sent two emojis in the form of a handshake and a red heart.

Aubameyang has previously expressed his affection for the 30-year-old Frenchman.

Speaking in 2019, he said: “This friendship is really, really strong.

“It’s a great partnership and, of course, the coach decides who plays and whether we play together or not. And we have to accept that, that’s normal. But I think we are both really focused on playing for the team and giving our best.”

The ex-Arsenal man has enjoyed an impressive start to life with Barcelona since leaving the Emirates Stadium, having netted four goals in five matches in all competitions, including a recent hat-trick against Valencia.
