Two years after first meeting Lindsey Vonn at an awards show, NHL superstar P.K. Subban popped the question earlier this month, and the couple is now engaged.
Subban and Vonn revealed the details of the low-key proposal in a story for Vogue. Subban bought an emerald ring, and got down on one knee at their home.

On August 14, he went to his go-to jeweler, XIV Karats in Beverly Hills, and picked up the ring that he’d been waiting for: an emerald, because her favorite color is green, and it’s his birthstone. “I got the ring and said, ‘You know what? I’m just going to do it home.’ Everything kind of came together on that day.
…. When he got down on one knee in the presence of Lindsey’s three dogs at home, Lindsey was dumbfounded. At first, she didn’t believe what was happening. “We never talked about it or looked at rings,” she says. “But he gave me an emerald necklace at Christmas, and I loved it. I wouldn’t change the ring at all.”
Subban and Vonn met in 2017 – after Subban joked in a live interview on the ESPYs red carper that it was “hotter outside than Lindsey Vonn looks.”
“So the reporter goes ‘P.K., it’s really, really hot today. It’s about 107 degrees out here. You got this three-piece suit on. How are you feeling? Are you hot?’
I go ‘yeah, well it’s hot out here, but it’s not as hot as Lindsey Vonn looks, right?’ And then it just sort of came out.”
