How only Neymar can now surpass Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah didn't waste much time underlining he remains in the mood for Liverpool.

A mere 19 minutes is all it took for the Egyptian to slip the ball beyond Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul with a trademark left-foot finish into the bottom corner to register his first goal of the new campaign.

That's 72 in 106 appearances now for Salah, with 55 coming in 75 Premier League games alone.

Already he is in the top 30 of Liverpool's all-time leading scorers, level with the legendary Ray Kennedy who, while an attacking midfielder, took 393 games to reach the same tally.

And Salah wasn't finished there as the Canaries were swept aside 4-1 at a boisterous Anfield in Friday's Premier League opener.

Nine minutes later, his corner from the left was met by a powerful header from Virgil van Dijk for the Reds' third.

It was Salah's 103rd goal involvement of his Anfield career.

And it was the 12th time the forward had contributed a goal and an assist in a Premier League game since arriving at the club in the summer of 2017.

In the subsequent period, only Neymar with 13 has completed the feat more times in the top five European leagues.

And Salah's goal means he has now scored against 21 of 23 different top-flight opponents - only Swansea City and Manchester United have kept him out. So far.
