'How on Earth?' Traffic cone buried in tarmac by road workers

Residents in a sleepy Somerset town were shocked to stumble across a peculiar sight in the town.

The top of a traffic cone could be seen poking out of a pavement on Preston Road.

It appears as though the orange cone has been buried in tarmac by workers carrying out the Western Corridor scheme in Yeovil on Friday, reports Somerset Live.

Local councillor for Brympton Josh Williams reacted to the news on Facebook, writing: "I’d like to think it wouldn’t be done on purpose, but then how on earth you do it by accident is beyond me!"

Alun Griffiths, a Welsh building contractor, is currently carrying out the Western corridor project.

The scheme, funded by Somerset County Council, has seen six of its seven separate phases run late to the original schedule.

Huge 10 metre graffiti sprayed on brand new wall

Meanwhile just up the road, a brand new wall has been vandalised after a Brexit message was scrawled across it.

A 10-metre long piece of graffiti stating "WE VOTED LEAVE" has appeared on a wall on Lufton Way.

The huge message, sprayed with black aerosol paint, can be seen by motorists driving past Yeovil Crematorium.

A spokesman for SCC has said that removing the graffiti is a job for the building contractor.

He said: "The site remains the responsibility of Alun Griffiths to maintain until the Western Corridor works are complete.

"We will make them aware of this."
