But since that audition, she's become an international star.
With three number one albums, the West Lothian-born singer has toured around the globe.
Her debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, was released in November 2009 and sold millions of copies and became Britain's best ever selling debut record.

That was despite losing in the final of Ant and Dec-fronted Britain's Got Talent to dance act Diversity.
Since then, she has also sang at the White House and Windsor Castle for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
