He's the actor famous for starring in hit 80s movies like St Elmo's Fire but this week viewers will see Rob Lowe take on a very different role.
And that's because he has crossed the Atlantic to play the title character in new ITV drama
According to the ITV website, Wild Bill is a fish-out-of-water crime drama following high-flying US police chief Bill Hixon, who is appointed Chief Constable in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Landing in the UK with his teenage daughter Kelsey in tow, Bill is ready to tackle the county’s crime figures, armed with a range of statistics and algorithms with every intention of getting in and out as quickly as possible.
However, Bill soon discovers the people of Boston are just as smart-mouthed, cynical and difficult to impress as he is, and the man who’s spent his life keeping the messiness of human intimacy at arm’s length is reluctantly propelled into frontline policing and forced to reconsider his relationship with those closest to him.
It's a very different role for Rob, more than 30 years after St Elmo's Fire was released.

Born on March 17, 1964, Rob is 55 years old.
Rob made his screen debut aged 15 in sitcom A New Kind of Family and, as well as St Elmo's Fire, has starred on the big screen in the likes of The Outsiders and Young Blood and on TV in The West Wing.
He is the recipient of two Screen Actors Guild Awards and has been nominated for six Golden Globes Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award.
