How often do teams come back from a first-leg defeat in the Championship play-offs?

Only six teams in Championship playoff history have managed to overcome a first leg defeat.

Leeds United beat Derby County away in the first leg of their playoff semi-final on Saturday.

Frank Lampard’s side will be hoping to turn their defeat around - but such outcomes are quite rare.

Following last night's tie second leg at The Hawthorns, where Aston Villa held on to their first leg win to triumph on penalties, there have been 36 instances of teams losing the first leg of the playoff semi-finals in the Premier League era.

Only six of those ties saw the losing team make it to the final.

Unfortunately for Derby in particular, all of those teams were playing at home in the second leg.
