How Odion Ighalo has prepared for possible Manchester United debut against Chelsea

Odion Ighalo could be in line to make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea on Monday evening.

The former Watford man completed a deadline day move to Old Trafford in the last few hours of the January transfer window remaining as Old Gunnar Solskjaer looked to add goals to his Red Devils team.

Ighalo has signed a loan deal until the end of the season from Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua and will aim to help Man United compete in the race for the top four positions in the Premier League.

The Nigerian was not signed in time to make his bow in the 0-0 draw with Wolves on 1st February, but could make his debut when Manchester United visit Stamford Bridge when the Premier League returns from the international break.

However, the Nigerian has not had the most ideal of preparations ahead of the game - due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The striker did not travel with the rest of his teammates to the warm weather training camp in Spain due to fears that he would not be allowed to re-enter the country.

As reported by the Mirror, Ighalo has also been training away from Manchester United's Carrington training ground this week, as he stays away from the training center for 14 days to minimise the risk to players and staff.

The 30-year-old has instead been training at the Great Britain Taekwondo centre with performance coach Wayne Richardson.

The 14-day period ends at the weekend, meaning that he will be available for selection for Chelsea match.

Solskjaer confirmed earlier in the week that he will be travelling with the squad.

"He is going to travel with us," he said. "We will just see his fitness work this week and I think we will get him sharp. We want to integrate him as quickly as we can because, of course, he is desperate to play for us.”
