How Notts County stars produced '100mph' training session after threat from Neil Cox

Neal Ardley revealed how a threat from Notts County's assistant manager Neil Cox sparked a '100mph' training session as they look to maintain their winning run.

The Magpies have picked up six points from their last two games, but Ardley is keen to keep the momentum building by securing a third successive victory against Dover on Saturday.

After the players were given Monday off to help combat fatigue, the squad were then put through their paces by Cox on Tuesday in which they were measured on several stats.

And if any of Notts' stars failed to reach their targets, then they faced an extra session of running in the afternoon and Ardley said it worked a treat.

“Tuesday was a fitness day and Neil Cox (assistant manager) took that part and got stuck right into them,” he said.

“He did it on a big pitch, and it was 11 v 11.  He warned that if anybody didn’t hit the right stats then they would spend the afternoon running.

“They had to cover a certain amount of sprints and distances and he said the session was 100 mph.

“That’s what we were looking for."
