How Nottinghamshire's Covid rates compare to when Tier 2 and Tier 3 were announced

With the end of the national lockdown in sight, thoughts are now turning to what tier of restrictions Nottinghamshire will be placed in come December 2.

Parts of the county now have a lower rate than they did when Tier 2 restrictions were imposed and came into force on October 14.

For example, Nottingham's rate then was 834.2 cases per 100,000 people and it is now 251.1

Broxtowe's rate was also higher then too at 272.7. It is now 221.9.

The same can also be said for Rushcliffe which was 272.7 in October and is now 223.2.

In comparison, though, current rates in Ashfield, Mansfield and Bassetlaw are much higher now than they were just before Tier 2.

Rates in most parts of Nottinghamshire are now also lower than they were days before the county entered Tier 3.

But the rate of cases is not the sole factor in determining a tier level. The speed of change, rate of positive tests, demographics of those getting infected and the pressure put on hospitals were all considered as part of the restrictions brought in before the national lockdown.

Nottinghamshire's Public Health boss says he expects the entire county to be placed under the same tier after national lockdown comes to an end. The Government has no confirmed it will announce plans for post lockdown tier restrictions this week.
