How Nottingham Forest's promotion chances are rated for 2020/21 season

A promotion push is very much the aim for Nottingham Forest in the upcoming season, as they look to realise their ambition of a return to the Premier League.

The Reds agonisingly fell at the final hurdle when it came to securing a top six spot last time around.

But with Sabri Lamouchi in charge for his second full campaign, the goal is to move on quickly from 2019/20 and go again.

A trio of signings have already been made, with further additions expected, and Forest do not have long to wait before they are back in action.

After a Carabao Cup first round tie at Barnsley, they will start the new league season with a trip to QPR on September 12.

And it seems the bookies also feel Forest are in with a decent chance of challenging at the top end of he table.

Brentford, who lost to Fulham in this year's play-off final, and newly-relegated Watford are the early favourites to clinch promotion, according to odds from ThePools, with the pair both given a price of 11/5 to make it to the top-flight.

Norwich City and Bournemouth came down with the Hornets and will also be looking for an immediate return, being priced at 5/2.

Stoke City are tipped to do well, with odds of 15/4 for promotion, while the Reds and Cardiff City are both backed at 9/2.

Swansea City are priced at 5/1, ahead of Middlesbrough and Millwall at 11/2, while Forest's arch-rivals Derby County are 6/1.

At the other end of the spectrum, Rotherham and Wycombe Wanderers are seen as the most unlikely to enjoy a promotion-winning campaign, while Sheffield Wednesday are 16/1 to fight back from their points deficit.
