How Nottingham Forest and Notts County have already begun to reestablish positive relationship

Nottingham Forest and Notts County have already begun to establish a good relationship, following the takeover of the Magpies.

Reds chairman Nicholas Randall QC and director Jonny Owen were in the directors’ box at Meadow Lane on Sunday to watch the Magpies’ 1-1 draw with Wrexham.

Relations between the city’s two clubs had previously soured during Alan Hardy’s regime, as a result of social media barbs delivered by the former Notts owner.

Forest were keen to extend an olive branch and a helping hand to their neighbours in the second half of last season, allowing young striker Virgil Gomis to join on loan.

And following the takeover of County by Danish brothers Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz last month, the relationship between the two clubs seems to have healed.

Randall and Owen were invited to the National League clash at the weekend and are understood to have been introduced to Notts’ new owners.

Forest are understood to be eager to re-establish a positive and friendly relationship with their neighbours, believing it to be good for the city.

And the invitation for Randall and Owen seems to be the first step towards that.

Neal Ardley’s side took the lead through Kristian Dennis against Wrexham, but were made to pay for some wasteful finishing as Devonte Redmond levelled to earn a point for the visitors.
