How Nottingham Forest ace is using enforced break to give Reds injury boost

Nottingham Forest midfielder Tiago Silva is using the enforced break to build up his fitness.

Before the Championship season was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Portuguese had been sidelined since the end of last month.

Silva last featured for the Reds against Cardiff City, when he scored the winning goal.

But he had missed the 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough and the 3-0 defeat to Millwall as he required surgery after suffering appendicitis.

Since then, the campaign has been brought to a halt until April 3 at the earliest - and Silva has been using the time to recover.

The club posted a clip on Twitter of him going through his paces on a field, with the message: “The Portuguese midfielder is keeping himself in shape during the break.”

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi had said Silva would be out of action “for a few weeks” following his treatment.

If the season does restart at the beginning of next month, Forest are due to return with a trip to face arch-enemies Derby County.

Their games against Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town and Bristol City have been postponed and an EFL meeting is taking place to decide how to proceed with the rest of the campaign.
