How North East MPs voted in today's historic Brexit vote

EU leaders are to hold an emergency meeting on April 10 after MPs voted to reject Theresa May’s Brexit deal for the third time in a row.

The Commons vote means the UK cannot leave the EU on May 22, as the Government had hoped.

Instead, we face a choice between crashing out of the EU with no deal on April 12, or begging the EU for a lengthy delay - which means Brexit could be delayed for at least a year.

European Council president Donald Tusk announced EU leaders would meet in Brussels on April 10 to discuss the implications of the vote.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called for a general election

And Mrs May - who had promised to step down as Prime Minister if her deal was approved - appeared to hint that this was a possibility, telling MPs: “I fear we are reaching the limits of this process in this House.”

Brexit to be delayed AGAIN after MPs reject Theresa May's proposed deal for a third time

Brexit had originally been due to take place today, March 29, but was delayed after MPs rejected the deal agreed between the British government and the EU, while also rejecting the idea of leaving with no deal.

Today’s vote means it is now likely to be delayed for even longer. But Mr Corbyn said MPs were right to reject Theresa May’s “botched and half-baked Brexit deal”.
