How NHS staff can get permit to park for free across Nottinghamshire

NHS staff and critical care workers will be entitled to a permit to park for free in a number of locations across Nottinghamshire.

MiPermit, which specialises in digital permits, has partnered with Nottinghamshire County Council to allow frontline healthcare workers to use on-street parking and council owned car parks for free.

The company hopes this will take away the worry which comes as a result of time limits or cost, particularly amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Those who want a permit can choose a location in which they work, including all district and boroughs in the county.

Proof of NHS or key worker status is required and can be done so by uploading images of ID cars and badges.

The digital permit will then allow key workers to park in resident permit holder zones, on single yellow lines, limited waiting bays and council car parks for free and for as long as required.

Paul Moorby, chief executive of MiPermit, says: “Critical workers are doing vital work, with some risking their lives to help in the fight against coronavirus.

"It is our duty as innovators, business owners, and as citizens to support them in any way we can.

"Some NHS staff have told us that they are worried about making mistakes using their residents and visiting carer permits, or are worrying about the forthcoming annual peak permit expiry date in April.

"I want to take this worry away. It is important that local councils continue to carry out crucial parking enforcement to ensure the public are kept safe and that roads remain clear for emergency and essential services – which is a critical consideration at this time."
