The New York Jets may not be able to stay out west for their two back-to-back road games against the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams this year.
According to NBC Sports’ Peter King, the Jets may have to travel back to New Jersey in between their two games in Seattle and Los Angeles. If the Jets want to remain on the west coast between those games, they have to submit an Infectious Disease Emergency Response that would have to be reviewed and approved by the NFL and the NFLPA.
In a non-COVID-19 world, the Jets would have no issue just staying on the west coast between their two games in Seattle and Los Angeles in Week 14 and Week 15, respectively.
Making four cross country flights in a span of two weeks is not ideal for any football team. The three-hour time difference between the east coast and west coast impacts teams more than you’d think. It takes time for the players to get used to the time difference.
Every football team is going to have to adjust to unusual circumstances this upcoming season, though. Between a ramped-up training camp and no preseason games, teams may be behind the eight ball at the start of the regular season.
So adding in travel between road games will be another challenge that the Jets and every other team is going to have to deal with in 2020.
