How Newcastle United summer exits have fared at their new clubs so far

Newcastle United have enjoyed a good start to their Premier League campaign and had a busy summer transfer window after deadline day came and went earlier this week.

Bringing in club-record signing Alexander Isak for £70 million alongside the likes of Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope are great moves for Eddie Howe's side who are vying to better their 11th place finish from last season.

However, amongst all the incoming deals during the window, there were many outgoings that Newcastle sent either on loan or permanent deals. Chronicle Live takes a look at how those exits have fared so far this season...

Martin Dubravka

The Slovakian goalkeeper was sent out on loan to fellow Premier League team Manchester United earlier this week and featured in the matchday squad in United's 3-1 win over league leaders Arsenal this afternoon.

Federico Fernandez

Earlier this week, it was announced Fernandez had signed a one-year deal with La Liga side Elche CF and was featured in their matchday squad in this afternoon's game against Villarreal. The Argentinian gave Newcastle fans a 'big mention' in an Instagram post he made after the move was announced following his four-year stint at St James' Park.

Dwight Gayle

The 32-year-old hasn't had a good start at all to his loan spell at Championship side Stoke City. Before manager Michael O'Neill was sacked after just six games into the season, and replaced by Sunderland manager Alex Neil, Gayle had only a single assist to his name.

He wasn't featured in today's matchday squad for their 3-1 loss to Reading and with the Potters signing Manchester City youngster Liam Delap, it's entirely possible Gayle sees himself frozen out of his loan move behind Delap and Tyrese Campbell.

Jeff Hendrick

Hendrick has been an essential part of what has been a great start to the season for Reading so far. Although he doesn't have any goal involvements in his eight league appearances so far, he has played 90 minutes in all but one of them (where he was subbed off after 73 minutes) and was very impressive in today's game against Stoke.

Matty Longstaff

After being sent to Colchester United on loan earlier this week, Matty Longstaff featured in the U's 1-1 draw against Hartlepool United yesterday afternoon, playing all 90 minutes and picking up a yellow card after 71 minutes. The 22-year-old scored six goals for Mansfield Town in League Two last season and will look to repeat those numbers during his newest loan spell.

Isaac Hayden

Isaac Hayden has been fighting injuries almost all year and his loan spell with Norwich City has been no different. Manager Dean Smith did give a positive update this week, saying that Hayden has been back running on grass in training so it's possible the 27-year-old will feature this month for the Canaries.

Ciaran Clark

Much like Hayden, Clark's loan spell has been plagued with injury issues so far. Despite starting Sheffield United's first two games of their Championship campaign, Clark picked up an injury and hasn't featured since for the Blades.

Kelland Watts

22-year-old Kelland Watts was sent to Peterborough United on deadline day earlier this week and didn't feature in their matchday squad for their 2-1 defeat yesterday to Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
