How Neil Warnock perfectly summed up what it has been like to follow Newcastle United lately

Watching Newcastle United lately has been tough viewing for Magpies fans.

No goals in their last four Premier League matches, United have largely struggled to create chances or inspire hope as their season continues to trudge slowly towards safety in 2020.

And on Saturday, as Newcastle laboured to a 0-0 draw with Burnley, former Sheffield United, QPR and Cardiff boss Neil Warnock got his own little glimpse into the life of a Magpies fan.

Working on the game for Sky Sports' Gillette Soccer Saturday, Warnock brilliantly summed up how tough of a watch it has been for Magpies fans in recent weeks.

"They just make the wrong decisions," he said of Newcastle.

"The opportunities they do get when they are breaking forward etc, they pick the wrong pass.

"They had a couple of clear-cut opportunities at most but the most exciting thing, for me, this afternoon was my chicken and mayonnaise sandwich, Jeff.

"That is the only thing worth talking about. So thanks for asking me to come from Cornwall today, I really enjoyed it."

That being said, Warnock was impressed with the performance of Matt Ritchie.

"As a manager he is a dream," he added.

"He will be disappointed tonight because he had a great shot that almost went in and he was a great threat.

"He gives everything and Steve (Bruce) will be so happy he is back fit.

"I thought Jonjo Shelvey did well today as well. He made two or three great 60 yard passes. They were tight at the back as well and I think both teams will be happy for a point."
