How much you pay to park at every NHS hospital in Bristol

If you are preparing any hospital visits, you might want to familiarise yourself with the parking fees.

Bristol is host to a number of NHS hospitals, including the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital.

But parking costs differ depending on which NHS trust is responsible for the site, and the fees can also change from location to location within the same trust.

Sites run by the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust

All hospitals run by the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust operate the same parking scheme.

This means that if you require a two-hour stay at St Michael’s Hospital, on Southwell Street, then you will pay the same as someone needing to park at Bristol Royal Infirmary on Marlborough Street.

The university hospitals trust encourages patients and visitors to use public transport or nearby public car parks whenever possible, however.

Hospitals managed by the trust are the Bristol Eye Hospital, the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, the Bristol Heart Institute Clinical Services, the Bristol Royal Hospital For Children, the Bristol Royal Infirmary, the South Bristol Community Hospital, St Michael’s Hospital and the University Of Bristol Dental Hospital.

On-site pay-and-display charges for the above sites are as follows:

Up to 2 hours: £3.40

Up to 4 hours: £5.40

Up to 8 hours: £12

Up to 12 hours: £15

Blue-badge holders are entitled to park for free at any site (apart from in drop-off spaces) so long as their badge is shown correctly.

Statement from North Bristol NHS Trust

The trust’s director for estates, facilities and capital planning Simon Wood said: “Our car parks follow the 2015 government guidance on costs and exemptions for parking at NHS sites.

“We offer a number of concessions to certain groups of patients and relatives.

“We also encourage staff and patients to travel more sustainably where possible, such as by bus, cycling and walking.”
