Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin talked about rookie running back Najee Harris on Tuesday about his availability in the preseason. But honestly, I don’t think we are any closer to knowing if Harris actually will play in preseason or not.
If you take Steelers reporter Missi Matthews are her word, her interpretation of the situation is Harris is going to play in all four games. No mention of the workload so this could be one snap or 20 depending on the circumstances.
But should he? Harris is the future of the franchise in terms of the run game and the team has gone all-in on getting this rushing attack back in order. Depth behind Harris is abysmal and there is a balance that must be struck between getting a rookie some NFL reps and risking injury to the team’s franchise back.
