The Chargers spent a lot of time in an airplane last season, finishing as the second-most traveled team in the NFL. But despite all the commute, they proved that playing in some of the most hostile environments like Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Seattle was not a problem at all for them.
Since moving to Los Angeles in 2017, they have fared quite well, going 5-2 in games where they have to fly 2,000 or more miles.
But how do the Bolts fare this upcoming season with the amount of miles that’ll be tacked up?
Traveling quite a bit will once again be a familiar sight for the Chargers this year as they are set to travel a total of 28,262 miles, which marks the third-highest in the NFL, right behind the Raiders and Rams, according to CBS Sports.
This statistic shouldn’t come as much as a surprise, because L.A. is furthest on the west coast.
While there are more local games like those against their rivals in the AFC West, the Chargers have to go all the way to the east coast to take on the Dolphins, Jaguars, Titans and Lions and a trip to Mexico City to face the Chiefs.
On the other side of the spectrum, there are some teams who will not even travel 10,000 miles this season. Those teams are the Patriots, Redskins, Bills, Giants and Jets.
Los Angeles made a statement to the nation with their notorious saying ASAP, or in other words “any squad, any place”. The slogan basically signifies that they are going to put their best forth effort no matter who or where they are playing. They look to continue that in 2019.
