How much time will Jordan Reed miss after being declared out?

For a moment, it seemed like Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed was trending toward playing in his team’s Monday Night Football showdown with the Chicago Bears.

But only for a moment.

Saturday, word broke that Reed wouldn’t be able to give it a go Monday due to the concussion he suffered in Week 3 of the preseason.

Following up on that, JP Finlay of NBC Sports provided quite an interesting report: “I had one source tell me he could be ‘weeks’ away. Still trying to come back from concussion sustained August 22nd.”

Concussions are an incredibly serious injury and everyone responds to them differently. The big concern with Reed is this is his seventh recorded concussion, emphasis on reported.

Given the toll football has taken on Reed so far, we’ve asked in the past if Reed should consider retirement.

It seems like Reed is still continuing to try and get back on the field for his team. But after some optimism this week, it seems like the star tight end’s return might be farther off than initially thought.
