How much Rangers, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock could earn in Europa League prize money

It's a long road to the Europa League group stage for Rangers , Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.

The Premiership clubs must negotiate four qualifying rounds but the financial reward for going all the way is an enticing one.

The Ibrox side banked £3million after reaching the group stages through the qualifiers last year, as they were joined by Celtic after they dropped down from the Champions League qualifiers and won their play-off tie.

Rangers took a step towards the second qualifying round with a thumping 4-0 win over Gibraltarians St Joseph's earlier this week.

Aberdeen face Finnish outfit RoPS on Thursday while Kilmarnock head to Wales and a meeting with Connah's Quay Nomads.

If each of the three Scots clubs reaches the group stages, they'll be rewarded with around £3.32m in prize money - a figure that's slightly up on last season.

The reward for reaching the group stage alone is £2.62m, but with cash earned for progressing through each qualifying round bumping the total figure up significantly.

Once qualified, teams earn £512,000 for every while a draw nets £170,000.

Prize money will rise even higher as clubs pocket further funds from UEFA's co-efficient share, which stands at £75.52m in total for the Europa League this term.

And that's before TV and gate receipts are taken into account.

Reaching Group Stage  - €2.92m Euros (£2.62m)
