How much rain did we get in Nottinghamshire on Thursday November 14?

The rain hardly seemed to stop at all on Thursday, but exactly how wet was it?

Well, the answer is 'very' - but not as wet as some other places.

The Met Office weather station at Watnall - the closest one to Nottingham - recorded 29.0mm of rainfall throughout Thursday.

Meanwhile the station at Sutton Bonington had 27.6mm.

However the wettest place in the UK was at Tredegar in Wales, which recorded 42mm.

And the Nottinghamshire figures were well below our rainiest ever day. That was on July 15, 1949, when a huge 75.2mm was seen at Sutton Bonington (where records began in 1924).

At Watnall, where records began in in 1948, the wettest day ever was 59.9mm on August 25, 1986.

Around the country, there are 147 current flood warnings - in which immediate action is required - with 145 in England and two in Wales.

A dozen of these are in Nottinghamshire.

The Environment Agency  says it is working with emergency responders and local authorities to protect people and properties in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

Meanwhile a Government Cobra meeting was held on Thursday evening to co-ordinate the ongoing relief.
