How much new Bristol Banksy could be worth

The new Banksy artwork in Totterdown has been valued at between £3 million and £5 million by art experts.

The mural appeared on the side wall of a house at Vale Street, Totterdown yesterday morning, much to the surprise of local residents.

The elusive Bristol graffiti artist has since confirmed the mural is his work in a post on his official website.

The painting shows an old woman sneezing with her false teeth flying out.

Valuers at MyArtBroker say street art pieces are notoriously difficult to value depending on how and when, and in what form, they come to market.

But they said the piece could be worth in the region of £3-5 million

MyArtBroker Banksy expert and co founder Joe Syer said: “Street art pieces are not sold with authentication by Pest Control – Banksy’s authentication body.

“However with the right provenance in place we’d estimate this to be worth in the region of £3-5 million pounds.”

The valuation comes at the same time as reports the owners of the house have decided not to sell the property as planned.

Aileen Makin, 57, was due to exchange contracts on the Park Street home as early as next week, ITV reports.

Banksy used the gable wall of her home in Vale Street - officially the steepest road in England - for the artwork.

Once the artist confirmed the work was his, the homeowner and her son decided not to let the property go as the work could see the value of the family's home rocket.

According to Zoopla, the average home on the street is worth just £300,000.

Crowds have continued to gather around Vale Street in Totterdown since the 'Aachoo' piece appeared. Perspex has now been placed over the artwork to protect it.

Banksy has been doing a lot of work in England this year, including the "Hula-hoop" girl in Notthingham and a picture of a rat on the London underground.
