How much money will Antonio Brown collect from Patriots?

Wide receiver Antonio Brown was let go by the New England Patriots today after being accused of sexual assault and, in a separate case, of intimidating a woman who said he made unwanted sexual advances toward her. He made daily headlines during his 11-day stint in New England, and the team decided to move on.

So, how much money will he lose out on?

Brown was released by Oakland and lost out on $30 million in a guaranteed contract, which was voided by the Raiders. Later that day, he agreed to terms with the Patriots on a one-year contract for $15 million, including $9 million in guaranteed money.

The guaranteed money was going to get split into two separate payments, and the first payment of $5 million was due on the coming Monday.

Since Brown’s conduct was detrimental to the team, the Patriots can try to void the payment of the guaranteed money.

Brown didn’t inform the Patriots of the pending sexual assault investigation — therefore his guaranteed money could be null and void.

Brown earned one game check that amounted to $158,333, and that will likely be the only money that he leaves New England with. That said, the NFL is currently treating the first installment of Brown’s deal as earned money, which will count as a cap hit of $9 million over two years, with $4.5 million in 2019 and $4.5 million in 2020.
