How much money people earn where you live

If there's one thing we all secretly enjoy it's guessing how much other people earn.

And when we're driving around different parts of Wales we often wonder how much it takes to live there.

But now new figures have taken all the guess work out of it and revealed how much people earn where you live.

The Office for National Statistics have gone through all the data and produced a map breaking down various areas across the country.

All the numbers look at net household income, which is the sum of the disposable (net) income of every member of the household. That includes wages, pensions and benefits, minus things like income and council tax.

Only one place in Wales, Cardiff, made it to the top 50 areas across the UK with the highest household income.

Of all local areas in Wales, 28% were among the overall poorest 10% based on incomes before housing costs, a higher proportion than any other part of England and Wales. After housing costs, however, Wales only had the fifth highest proportion of local areas in this group, with 16% of Welsh local areas within the bottom 10%.
