How much money Nottingham Forest could receive as part of EFL's £50m coronavirus relief package

Nottingham Forest and their Championship rivals are set to receive their share of a £50m relief package made available by the EFL amid the coronavirus crisis.

The League’s governing body issued an updated statement on Wednesday, following more talks in which they discussed the current pandemic sweeping across the globe.

With football postponed until April 3, at the earliest, clubs up and down the country will be missing out on vital matchday revenue and the financial implications could be devastating for those further down the pyramid.

As part of the EFL’s statement, it included details of a short-term relief package for clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two.

The £50m will be split into immediate payments for the rest of the 2019/20 season and also an interest free loan facility.

A letter tweeted by the BBC shows a sum of £28.9m will be paid to EFL clubs.

It has been split across the three divisions, with Forest and fellow Championship clubs set to receive £800,000 each.

League One clubs will receive £250,200, with League Two sides getting £164,200.

The remaining £21m of the package is put aside for an optional interest-free loan facility. Championship clubs will be allowed to access £584,000 of that figure, League One £182,800 and League Two £119,800.

The EFL said as part of the statement they are determined to eventually conclude the current season “at the appropriate time”.
