How much money Liverpool will lose if Barcelona sell Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool made a staggering £142million when they sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January 2018.

The Brazilian midfielder was meant to fill the void left behind by the departing Andres Iniesta, but Coutinho has fallen well short of this billing.

So much so the former Liverpool man has been linked with a transfer away this summer after just one season at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona will have to cut their losses if they agree to sell Coutinho in the next few months, given the fact they won't recoup the £142m they paid for him last season.

But they will also save having to pay Liverpool extra money in variable bonuses.

How Liverpool have forced Real Madrid to change Eden Hazard transfer plans

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have already paid Liverpool an additional £13m since signing Coutinho.

The Reds could earn a further £17.35m, triggered from success in the Champions League and in appearance money.

But should Barcelona move Coutinho on in the summer then this contract will be null and void, meaning the Catalan giants will finally be out of Liverpool's pocket.

Manchester United were linked with a move for Coutinho a few months ago, but the Old Trafford club's interest in the Brazilian has cooled somewhat.
