How much money Liverpool will get for winning the Champions League final

Winning the Champions League could earn Liverpool in the region of £100million.

The Reds captured their sixth European Cup courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid and their success will bring them a huge financial windfall.

Liverpool were competing in their second consecutive Champions League final and despite losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kiev last year, they still pocketed €81.3million (approximately £72million with current exchange rates).

Along with the funds they had generated the previous January from the £142million sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, Anfield chiefs were able to plough such prize money back into their playing squad with the likes of Fabinho (£39million); Alisson (£66.8million) and Xherdan Shaqiri (£13.5million) being snapped up.

Under UEFA's latest three-year broadcasting agreement, Liverpool's earnings from reaching the final in Madrid will see the club earn around €110million (£97.47million) but following their victory this will now be supplemented by participation in the UEFA Super Cup victory against Europa League winners and fellow Premier League side Chelsea at Besiktas' Vodafone Park in Istanbul on August 14.

UEFA distributes prize money at each round of the Champions League competition with teams receiving a €15.25million base fee for reaching the group stages; €2.7million for group stage victories; €900,000 for group stages draws; €9.5million for the round of 16; €10.5million for the quarter-finals; €12million for the semi-finals; €15million for the losing finalist and €19million for the tournament winner.
