How much money have Newcastle earned from their FA Cup run so far? How much more can they earn?

Newcastle United have already earned themselves a significant chunk of money for reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Granted, England's secondary competition does not offer the eye-watering sums of money that the untold riches of the Premier League can offer but it still pays well to enjoy a long run in the competition.

Newcastle reached the quarter-finals for the first time since 2006 on Tuesday night as a brace from Miguel Almiron and a first goal for the club from Valentino Lazaro secured a 3-2 win over Championship league leaders West Brom.

The Magpies will now take on Manchester City in the quarter-finals at St James' Park and although the visitors will be favourites to progress, Newcastle have already banked the best part of £1million in prize money.

Steve Bruce's side earned £135,000 for their third-round victory over Rochdale, while their replay win over Oxford last month secured another £180,000 in prize money.

Their fifth-round win over West Brom secured another £360,000 for their coffers, meaning their tournament prize money stands at £675,000.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have also picked up extra money from their fixtures against being televised against both Rochdale in the third round and Oxford in their fourth-round replay.

Newcastle received £237,840 from broadcast and facility fees from those ties while they also picked up £50,000 for their fifth round win being broadcast on BBC iPlayer.

That swells their competition income to a cool £ 962,840 before they even play their last eight tie.

All four quarter-final matches will be televised and Chronicle Live understands Newcastle are guaranteed another £350,000 in TV money as a result, bringing their guaranteed earnings from the competition up to just over £1,312,840.

Should they win through to the semi-finals - and a first appearance at the new Wembley Stadium - Newcastle will earn at least an extra £1.6million on top of that.

And that is not even taking into account that each club between the third and sixth rounds takes home 45 per cent of gate receipts - with 10 per cent going into a central pot.

A quarter-final win would earn Newcastle a further prize of £720,000. Semi-final losers are then paid an extra £900,000. A semi-final win earns £1.8million with a further £1.8million in prize money guaranteed to the losing finalist.

Meanwhile, a win in the FA Cup final would see Newcastle earn and additional £3.6million in prize money. Newcastle would also receive further broadcast fees as both the semi-final and final will be televised.
