How much money can you get for your old mobile phone that's in your drawer?

There could be hundreds of pounds in old mobile handsets just sitting in your house.

Whenever you get that shiny new mobile phone it is easy to forget about the old one that had served you so well.

These poor phones are often doomed to live out the rest of their lives in a draw or cupboard. Never used again these once loved hand sets waste away.

Does that sound like you?

Whether you kept your old mobile out of nostalgia, as a spare or because you had a great high score on Snake or Space Impact you could be sitting on a tidy bit of cash.

We have put together a guide whether it is worth selling that phone.

How can you sell it?

There are several options when it comes to selling you phone. There are companies like Envirofone and Mazouma who will pay for old handsets.

According to Money Saving Expert, once they're tested, if the phones are decent, they're shipped abroad and flogged. For example, Envirofone sells phones in the Middle East, Far East, Africa and South America.

If it's a particularly high value phone, there's a chance these companies will sell it on eBay to get the most money.

If you have a particularly good phone you can sell it on Ebay yourself and pocket the difference.

These are the worst mobile, landline and broadband providers

How do I know if I am getting the best price?

According to Money Saving Expert your best bet is to start with a comparison site, just like you would with insurance.

You should bear in mind that comparison sites don't feature all providers and you should also check at stores like CEX.
