Wales' Rugby World Cup shirt: How much the new kit costs and how long Wales will be wearing it for

Wales’ new kit for the 2019 Rugby World Cup has finally been released.

In July, the bold new designs were unveiled for the first time, with the new home jersey its traditional red and the away kit a dark green.

But they feature a quadrant design that is supposed to represent the four corners of Wales.

A chevron that separates them is tilted at 18.81 degrees, a nod to the WRU’s history having been founded in 1881.

The home strip is completed by white shorts with red socks and Under Armour have produced another very good kit.

Here’s all the key pricing information and release details...

When did the kit go on sale?

The kit went on sale officially on Saturday, July 20.

How much does it cost?

Pricing details for all the different items are a bit thin on the ground but we do know how much the jersey will cost.

The standard youth replica jersey will start at £50, which is exactly the same as it was two years ago. However, the adult one has gone up £5 to £70.

If you would like the World Cup version of the replica kit, it’ll cost £55 and £75 respectively.

Authentic jerseys, identical to the ones the players will wear, will start at £90.

How does that compare to others?

Pretty well, actually. When compared to other nations kits, the Wales gear is moderately-priced.

England’s top-end jersey is priced at £100, with South Africa’s coming in at £110.

How long will Wales be wearing it for?

You’ll get decent use out of this Wales jersey.

Most teams bring out a new kit every year, but Wales’ will see them all the way through until the end of 2020.

A new kit will then be brought out for the 2021 Six Nations.

What’s this about dissolving fabrics?

The authentic version boasts a new Airvent ArmourGrid technology which is basically an upgrade on what has been used in recent Wales kits.

Under Armour has developed technology that inovles certain yarns dissolving in the kit, creating the tiniest of holes in the jersey. You won’t notice them, but they’re there.

This makes the jersey more breathable, cooler and more comfortable for the players, which will be useful in the warm Japanese weather later this year.

Isn’t this Under Armour’s last Wales kit?

Yes. This is the final time Under Armour will manufacture Wales national team kits.

Both sides agreed to terminate their contract four years early.

It means the new kit in 2021 will be made by a new supplier.
