Much is made of how much politicians in Scotland are paid, however not many know exactly the salaries our elected representative pocket each year.
There are 129 seats to fill in the Scottish Parliament with each MSPs taking home way above the national average wage each year.
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) the average UK wage last year was £38,600 for a full-time job.
For a part-time role it was as low as
last year, which is an increase on the year before.

How much does an MSP make?
The basic salary for a member of the Scottish Parliament is currently £64,470-a-year.
It works out that each MSP will take home £5,372.50-a-month before tax is deducted.
If you're a dual-mandate member, a MP as well, then you'll earn £21,490-a-year.
What is the First Minister's salary?
According to the Scottish Parliament website the First Minister of Scotland earns £93,391-a-year.
However, on top of that they will also get an MSP salary.
In total, the person how is First Minister will pocket £157,861 each year while in office.
How much does a Cabinet Secretary or Minister earn?
If you're a Cabinet Secretary in the Scottish Government then you'll get your basic MSPs wage of £64,470-a-year.
On top of that they will also get £48,449 which means their total salary each year is £112,919.
A minister in the government will get £30,351, however in total they will take home £94,821.
