How much do Gogglebox stars earn? What they get paid and how to apply for Channel 4 show

Gogglebox is back on our screens with fan favourites entertaining viewers with their witty comments as they reaction to the current hit TV show and films.

The Channel 4 show recently introduced two new Scottish cast members Roisin and Joe who became the first Scots on the show in six years.

And this week, the hit show announced that they are looking for a Northern England- based family to join its cast.

The burning question most fans have is just how much do the Gogglebox stars get paid to appear on the reality show.

What do the Gogglebox stars get paid?

Channel 4 has never officially revealed how much they pay families to appear on Gogglebox.

However, The Sun has previously reported that the stars receive £1,500 a month for their contributions.

The family have to share that out between themselves but they get a free takeaway of their choice to keep them going during filming.

How to apply for Gogglebox

There isn't an official application process Instead, it is rumoured that Channel 4 producers visit local communities around the country to find potential cast members.

However, a Channel 4 producer recently made a call-out on Instagram for new cast members.

In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "Looking for funny families in the NORTH of England for new series of C4's Gogglebox.

"Leave a comment below if this sounds like you and feel free to tag anyone who would be perfect.

"I'm looking to have chats with hilarious families / couples / groups of friends from LIVERPOOL, BRADFORD, DEWSBURY, SHEFFIELD and surrounding areas for an upcoming series of Gogglebox.”

How much TV do they need to watch?

The Gogglebox cast needs to watch 12 hours of TV a week to make the show.

It is understood that this is divided into two six-hour shifts.

This is to accommodate for the stars' day jobs and other commitments.
