How much did James Harden pay Landry Shamet to wear No. 13 with the Nets?

James Harden has worn No. 13 in his entire 12-season NBA career with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets, and he’ll keep wearing it with the Brooklyn Nets, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

That’s not much news … until you consider that it’s the number Landry Shamet wears with Brooklyn.

It has to mean that either Shamet received some compensation to give up the number — it appears that the guard might end up with No. 20 now? — or he just decided that Harden was enough of a legend that he should just give up the digits.

No word yet from either Harden or Shamet, but it’s worth remembering that Shamet had to give up No. 23 to Jimmy Butler when the star joined the Sixers in 2018:

Sorry, Landry.
